The Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) was represented at Climate Summit 2025, which took place on 3 and 4 June in Dubai, through its consortium partner Yacooba Labs. The CEO of Yacooba Labs, João Maurício Marques, gave a presentation on the platform.
During the event, which brought together international leaders in climate transition,
the conceptual vision of the future Blockchain Carbon Credit Platform developed under the PBDH was presented – a pioneering solution with the potential to transform the voluntary Blue Carbon Credit market.
Based on Web3 architecture and artificial intelligence, the platform aims to ensure transparency, traceability and trust in all carbon credit generation, validation and transaction processes, particularly those involving ocean- and nature-based solutions.
Through this technology, the PBDH aims to empower governments, small and medium-sized enterprises and entities in the blue sector to adopt digitisation and decarbonisation strategies that align with international climate commitments.
Although the platform was developed in Portugal, it was designed with global ambitions and can be adapted to different territorial and regulatory contexts, reinforcing the PBDH's position as an internationally impactful hub of digital innovation in the blue economy.
