Matosinhos Business2Sea 2025 once again confirmed its position as one of the main meeting points for the Blue Economy in Portugal, bringing together around 300 participants on 24 and 25 November in Matosinhos. With a fully booked venue, this year’s edition focused on the theme “Global Partnerships for a Sustainable Blue Future”, highlighting the importance of international cooperation, innovation, and sustainable investment for the future of the maritime sector.
The event provided a privileged space for dialogue and exchange among startups, SMEs, clusters, investors, public decision-makers, and innovation leaders, reinforcing the strategic role of global partnerships in the sustainable transition of the Blue Economy.
The Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) played an active role in this edition, contributing with four strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening capacity building, digitalisation, and access to funding within the blue ecosystem.
One of the highlights was the Blue Pitch | From idea to investment, a session dedicated to presenting innovative Blue Economy solutions to international investors, with projects eligible for crowdfunding campaigns promoted by Goparity. The session was opened by Carlos Pinho, Lead Manager of PBDH, who underlined the importance of this initiative within the framework of the PBDH Investors Club. This moment gathered more than 200 participants and featured pitches from 20 startups and companies.
Another key moment was the Nautical Stations Digitalization | Strategy and Action 2026 session, a highly participatory collaborative exercise focused on the Nautical Stations of Portugal and on preparing the evolution of the national digital platform.
At CIIMAR, the Blue Biobanks Co-creation | Data, access and innovation initiative brought partners together to work on solutions to strengthen digital access to marine biodiversity resources. The session also included a guided visit to the biobanks, fostering closer links between science, data, and innovation.
The programme also featured the Fundraising & Financing Tools | New edition session, a practical initiative dedicated to identifying European funding opportunities, supporting startups and SMEs in leveraging innovative projects and scaling their international ambitions.
PBDH’s participation in Matosinhos Business2Sea 2025 reinforces its role as a driver of digital transition and sustainable growth within the Blue Economy, promoting innovation, collaboration, and tangible impact at territorial level.
