The Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) participated in the 2025 edition of the Oeiras Bluetech Ocean Forum, a leading international blue economy event, which took place on 21 and 22 July at the Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique (ENIDH), a PBDH consortium partner, in the municipality of Oeiras. Organised by Fórum Oceano in collaboration with the Oeiras Valley Investment Agency and the International Forum for Clean Energy (IFCE), and in partnership with Oeiras City Council, the event brought together decision-makers, investors and companies from the scientific and technological sectors to discuss investment opportunities, technological solutions and sustainable development strategies in various blue economy sectors. On the first day, the PBDH promoted the panel Portugal Blue Digital Hub: monetising dual-use BlueTech, which brought together representatives from the AIR Centre, Beta-i, the Hydrographic Institute, Startup Madeira, Yacooba Labs, partners of the PBDH consortium, as well as blueOASIS, to discuss sustainable business models, dual-use innovation. and ways to enhance technological solutions in the sector. The panel was moderated by Rodrigo Oliveira, Blue Project Manager at PBDH, Fórum Oceano. The following day, PBDH hosted three specialised training sessions integrated into the Smart Blue Business, Smart Blue Horizons and Bluetech Academy programmes. These sessions aimed to prepare companies and professionals in the blue economy for the challenges of digital and environmental transition.
The session AI to Power Your Company, led by JD Piquard, founder of J24D, addressed advanced artificial intelligence tools and techniques applied to company growth and modernisation in the sector. This was followed by the Funding & International Expansion for Portuguese Companies session, led by Filipe Ribeiro of Magellan Circle – European Affairs Consultancy and a representative from AICEP (Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade). This session focused on identifying national and European funding opportunities and developing internationalisation strategies. Finally, the PBDH Training Platform session presented the hub's digital training platform, featuring contributions from Carlos Pinho (PBDH Leader, Fórum Oceano), Manuela Batista (ENIDH) and Cristiano Vieira (ISQ). These presentations reinforced the PBDH's commitment to qualifying and requalifying Blue Economy professionals, and to promoting digital skills in the sector. The Portugal Blue Digital Hub's participation in this event reaffirms its role as a driving force for the digital and environmental transition of the blue economy, fostering innovation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration between strategic agents at a national and international level.
