On the 13th of November, the Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) was present at the Western Business Congress, a benchmark event in the promotion of the region's economic and social development, held at the Caldas da Rainha Cultural and Congress Centre.
The PBDH project manager, Rodrigo Oliveira, represented the project by taking part in the panel entitled "Technology and Artificial Intelligence in Territories". During his speech, he emphasised the crucial role of technology and innovation in the digital transformation of the Blue Economy and presented concrete examples of initiatives led by PBDH.
Among the topics covered, Rodrigo Oliveira highlighted the impact of solutions based on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Big Data on increasing the competitiveness, sustainability and efficiency of Blue Economy activities. PBDH's participation underlined the importance of adopting emerging technologies as strategic tools to address the economic and environmental challenges facing the Western Region and the country as a whole.
The Western Business Congress, which has not been held since 2018, was organised by the Intermunicipal Community of the West, Caldas da Rainha City Council and the Federation of Business Associations of the Western Region (FAERO). The event was also supported by the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, through the School of Arts and Design (ESAD.CR) and the School of Tourism and Technology of the Sea (ESTM), bringing together business people, academics and politicians in a wide-ranging discussion on the future of the region. The PBDH's presence underlines its commitment to the digital and environmental transition and highlights its role as a leader in the application of cutting-edge technologies in the maritime economy, in line with regional and national sustainable development priorities.
