On 3 December, a webinar was held to present the National Oceanographic Data Centre of Portugal (NODC-PT), an initiative promoted as part of the Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) project. Organised by the Hydrographic Institute and the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the event was attended by more than 80 people. Rodrigo Oliveira, PBDH project manager, highlighted the strategic importance of the "Portugal Ocean Big Data Platform and Blue Bio Bank", one of the main initiatives of the project. According to Oliveira, this platform, developed with the collaboration of entities such as the Hydrographic Institute, IPMA, CIIMAR, AIR Centre, NOVA IMS, DGRM, the University of Aveiro and INESC TEC, PBDH's consortium partners, represents an essential milestone for marine data management and the development of the Blue Economy in Portugal. Rodrigo Oliveira stated:
“Our project has not gone unnoticed by other clusters and the EDIH network, and some have already expressed interest in sharing databases to be included in our platform. This is in line with their expansion.”
This webinar shows how far PBDH has come and reaffirms the project's commitment to promoting innovative digital solutions for the maritime sector, contributing to the sustainability and growth of the blue economy.
