PBDH participated in Conferência Cidade Azul 2026, organised by Público, with the workshop “Blue Biobanks Digital Research Platform: um portal para a Economia Azul”, held on 22 April, Earth Day, at the University of Aveiro.
The platform aims to centralise marine data from Portugal's Exclusive Economic Zone, enhancing interoperability and driving the Blue Economy forward.
PBDH took part in SIM Conference 2026 with two workshops dedicated to strategic topics for startups, SMEs and Blue Economy entities, reinforcing its role in promoting digital innovation, collaboration and access to growth opportunities in the blue sector.
The PBDH has launched Academia Digital Blue, an e-learning platform designed to support the digital upskilling of professionals and organisations within the Blue Economy sector. Serving as a new training tool for the sector, the platform aims to promote digital literacy, foster innovation, and strengthen the essential skills needed to address the challenges of the digital and environmental transitions.
The National Oceanographic Data Centre – NODC-PT is a national infrastructure that coordinates, enhances, and promotes access to marine data in Portugal. As a national community, it connects marine data producers and managers, fostering an integrated, collaborative approach aligned with national and international best practices.
The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and the Hydrographic Institute of the Portuguese Navy are organising, within the framework of the Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH) project, the NODC-PT Big Data Platform Best Practices Webinar, an initiative dedicated to knowledge sharing and strengthening collaboration around this national ocean data infrastructure.
The Best Practices sessions of the National Oceanographic Data Centre (NODC-PT), promoted by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) and the Hydrographic Institute – Portuguese Navy, within the framework of the Portugal Blue Digital Hub (PBDH), were successfully concluded, with strong engagement from the marine data community.
On 3 December, a webinar was held to present the National Oceanographic Data Centre of Portugal (NODC-PT), an initiative promoted as part of the PBDH project.
On 6 May 2026, the workshop “Analytics: From Ocean to Dashboard” took place at IPMA. The session was developed within the scope of PBDH, dedicated to an introduction to Power BI using marine data, the workshop aimed to equip participants with skills for exploring, processing and visualising information applied to the blue sector.
On 5 and 7 May, the webinar dedicated to the digital transformation of the Nautical Portugal platform took place, promoted by PBDH within the scope of the Portuguese Nautical Stations Network.
On 5 and 7 May 2026, the PBDH will promote the workshop "The Nautical Stations Network and the Digital Transformation of the Nautical Portugal Platform", an initiative dedicated to the digital evolution of a strategic tool for the enhancement, management and promotion of the national nautical offer. The workshop will take place online and is aimed at all those interested in following this digital transformation process.
